Going to buy a VAG-COM tool like ASAP. Need opinion on brand/model....
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't there just two basic models:
- the VW Vag tool
- the VAG-COM tool
any others?
And any recomendation on which to buy? and any options needed?

How difficult it is to change the transmission oil yourself in an S4 6sp? Does S4 have an "uphill" fill hole, does it require any special tools?
The owner manual does not say what oil shoud be used, I did a search and everything points to a 75w90 oil, about 2.9 quarts of it, but nobody says anything about GL-4 or GL-5. Most gearboxes use GL-4, unless high pressure between teeth require GL-5 (like most rear differentials), but the the high pressure additives found in GL-5 are not syncro friendly, as they are probably made of bronze, so I am really split here. I really need to try a different oil (Red Line) because my second gear is so sloppy it takes away much of the pleasure of driving this car.
