Rubbing Wheels - options?
I know lots of people run 235/40/18's... is it the case that differences in wheels will make rubbing more/less of a problem?
One factor is that I'm having to run a 3mm spacer to clear my StopTech brakes.
Should a 225/40/18 solve the problem, or is the spacer combined with the Volk wheel just going to be a problem?
The rubbing is pretty minor, apparently only getting the plastic in the wheelwell where it sticks out flat w/ the fender in a few spots. When I first was wondering if it was rubbing the plastic was smooth, now it definitely has a "chewed up" feel to it.
I guess the other option is maybe to just leave it alone and not worry if it's not going to damage the body and just let it wear down the plastic a little? Or maybe cut the plastic back some? or?
Any ideas welcome.

I assume those wheels have an offset of 35mm, then with a 3mm spacer they are at a 32mm offset. That's getting out there, it doesn't surprise me that you are rubbing.

I'd also like to suggest you try and see if my avus/blowtenza combo rubs too. Let's swap on Saturday. ;-)

(Above) I used a spring metal clip (junk I found in my toolbox) that used to be at 90 degrees
and fastened it so as to pull the liner as close to the fender as possible.

By the way, I am running with 235/45 AVS Sports with the MTM/Eibach springs only suspension. The wheels are Ronal R7's 17"x8" ET35.
I had problems rubbing during some turns under suspension load and when I exited some driveways in combination with heavily crowned roads meeting the driveway (travelling too fast that is).
The picture below was what I had originally used for my fix to no avail. The liner plastic always returned to its original shape after cooling even when I held it in a new "mold" position during the TurboCool down period.
