S4MadMan: 9, Early 1990 something C4 Vette: 0

Two hours ago, driving home from Downtown Boston on the MassPike, I encounter an early 1990 something white C4 Vette. From what I could tell, it was stock.

I'm in the # 2 lane crusin' at 70mph and he passes in the fast lane. I've been so busy lately I haven't pushed my S4 at all but decided to give chase.

Surprisingly the C4 couldn't keep up. I kept pulling on it rather easily. In fact, I think a stock S4 could give that C4 a good run for its money.

We played cat and mouse for about 10 miles, I would pull ahead by 4-5 cars and slow down, he would catch up and tuck in behind me. This went on for a while. We did a ~60 to 130 where I beat him by 8 car lengths, probably more. I'm not kidding! Maybe the guy didn't know how to drive but I just pulled on him in every gear, every instance. I was really quiet surprised.

The guy in the white Vette flashed me as I exited and I returned the gesture. He was a cool customer.

I maybe wrong but 1990 something C4s run 0-60 in 5.2s and 1/4 mile in 13.7s right? If so, this one sure didn't seem like it, it was pretty slow. Maybe it was a real early 1990 Vette that ran high 5s and low 14s. Who knows?

Regardless, it was fun and chalk another kill for the S4s. =)

Don't worry, virtually no cars on the MassPike and it's mostly straight away 4-5 lanes.

Probably wasn't a very well taken care of vette.

not implying you wouldn't have taken him anyway. GOod run though...Now try a C5, if you haven't already.

really. Well, I'm still waiting for the day to give a Z06 a fright off the line. I think I'd....

have to initiate it though. Do you know how the Firehawks compare? they're fast, right? A buddy of mine(s4) raced one that was slightly modified and smoked it every time. It's a stage 2 S4 I believe.

nice wound! if i remember correctly..the c4s really aren't that quick...

i actually think they are in range of some of the rice burners, like prelude...etc.....nice kill regardless!

Which Firehawk? The SLPs run low 13s and are beasts!

C4 vettes vary in performance... (m)

C4's equipped with L98s are dogs... 1/4's are in the 14.2-14.3 range stock.
C4's equipped with LT1's are quicker... 1/4's are in the 13.7-13.9 range stock.
C4 ZR1's are beasts... 1/4's are in the range of 12.7-12.8 stock (with MPH's of 114+). You don't wanna run a ZR1, they're all freeway stuff unlike our all launch S4's.
