A friend of mine...

Put it in and has had nothing but problems. Brake pedal feel changes and the clutch squeaks. Dealer can't even solve the problems.

The theory is: it mucks with the seals in the clutch slave cylinder

Lots of us ran ATE in our A4s and subsequently had to replace the clutch master and/or slave cylinder (in my case both).

Bad for some Audi's...

mostly S4/A4. TT's don't seem to have problems though. Motul 600 seems to be the fluid of choice for most S4 Audiworlders.

Damn... I've had it in for about a month (topped it off when I had my brakes done)

No unusual sounds yet, is it too late?

Not too late...

I had it in my car the summer before last, and didn't start to get any squeaking until about 3 weeks after I put it in. Replaced it with Motul 600 about 2 weeks later and the squeaking stopped almost immediately. No problems since.

If you're not squeaking I don't think it's done any damage (yet.) You might not have ANY problems at all, but I'd recommend replacing it at your earliest convenience just to be safe.
