Another H&R Coilover Q: Do they "really" need to be adjusted after they settle?

I'm in my "cheap mode" again and I just can't see why a H&R coilover install should cost $2000 at a local Nor-Cal shop. This includes Coilovers (@ $1349, cough) install, align, and the infamous "adjustment" after the springs have settled and the like.

My main concern for the Blue Menace in particular is that I need to be corner balanced and have different heights to compensate for my stereo weight in the back. I'm a 1/2 inch lower in the back & 1/2 inch lower on my passenger side. I've been quoted various prices at various shops (DSR/Custom Align., Griffin, Modacar/Roger Krauss). Your thoughts are appreciated! Maybe I should visit the "Sherwood Garage" . . . :-P

I'd say so. The springs do settle, and if it's enough, you may need a re-alignment.

I've heard that Custom Alignment is THE place to go to. No personal experience as I'm in So-Cal.

Hey Jyo..3000 miles on my H&R's with no uneven tire wear. I do want a custom.....

alignment though. I just don't want anyone working on my car,...anyway, I don't even know of any places that are good around Detroit. I don't know what the dealer would be willing to do for enthusiasts...if they can comprehend that.

I had the dealer align my car two weeks ago after driving 20K on my H&R Coilovers. $125...

Honestly, the only reason to go to a custom place is because you want a custom setup...

I went to Johnson's Alignment in SoCal because they come very highly recommended. They did my Vortrag install with custom alignment settings and corner balancing.

When I raised my car 1/2", I had to redo the alignment and corner balancing.
