They are both panel filters.
The characteristics of the air flow of these things still aren't very good. Conical with the venturi shape is the way to go.
I think panel filters are really for peace of mind that you modded it. Only one I would consider at this point is the S-Flo, but even then I'm skeptical.

messing with the stock airbox is a WASTE OF TIME if not a loss in performance...
