Took my S4 in due to "Check Engine" after checking DTCs with vag tool. 17536 & 17538 were the codes I think which normally means the MAF is bad apparently. Audi said it was a bad By-pass valve and replaced one of them. The check light came back on and this time (today) they said it was indeed the MAF sensor as well as the Secondary Valve or Exhaust Gas Return/Regulator (?). So now I have to wait 7-10 days while the parts come in.
The interesting thing here is that the tech told me that they have 8-10 MAF sensors on order and they seem to think K&N filters are causing the problems. It may contribute to some problems, but the part is obviously mediocre to start with.
Having to drive the S4 in limp mode isn't much fun but it's still WAY better than the Ford Focus & Escort I had as loaners !!
