ARRRRGGGHHH bad car day
Took car in this afternoon to Wagon Works (well regarded local paint/body shop) to examine nasty fender scrape inflicted on car by diabolical parking garage stanchion (wife driving). Nice Wagon Works guy (Denny) buffs away alien garage paint from fender, free of charge, showing that only obvious damage is paint scratches that are only visible up close.
Down-side: scratches are still bad enough to need repaint.
Bonus down-side: scrape is close enough to rear door to require paint blending with door panel, plus removal of all nearby trim pieces.
Double-bonus down-side: fender is ever-so-slightly dented, requiring repair. Overall total guesstimate for repair and repaint costs: $1200-1600
Triple-bonus downside: guesstimate does not include cost to repair wheel. Cannot replace wheel with spare, since <b>other</b> rear wheel already damaged by wife in altercation with evil rampaging curb, necessitating use of spare.
Final, kick-me-in-the-crotch quadruple-bonus downside: while kneeling to examine damage to fender, notice circular metallic object in Blowtenza tire tread.....that's right, it's a nail. Thank you very much.
Potential upside....opportune time for new tires & rims? *SIGH*

FWIW, the wheel shouldn't be too expensive to fix... ~$150ish I would guess.
I had one of my 19"s fixed through Curry's automotive(they use a 3rd party) but it came back perfect, and it was beat up pretty bad... it was $175 though. Much better than buying a new one :-)
