So, it's been two weeks since i've installed MB Quart PSC 213's in the front speakers.
I paid 500 bucks for the pair of speakers. Dropped it off at 8am, got it by 1:00pm. Sales tax was 42.50 bucks, so total was: 542.50. I got it installed by Ultrasounds in Lynbrook, NY.
So. How are the speakers? They're mind-numbing. The highs are insanely crisp, and the lows are thumping. Off of stock power rating, these speakers are defintely out-performing my previous Bose's. I'm going to throw in an amp, and ditch the stock head unit (sad to see it go
) w/ the Pioneer DEH-730. Going to replace the rear deck's with MB Quarts also, and one 10" Alumapro enclosed sub.Phase one is complete, and damn, for 550 bucks, it was freaking well worth it. The difference is very noticeable. Amazing quality, these speakers rock.
Now i only wish the stock system could push them louder because they are being *so* underpowered right now.
AMPS, WHERE YOU ATTTTTTTT

I spent a lot of money in my Acura during the college days (somewhere around $3K) on the sound system. It was nothing fancy, but just speakers, amplifier, HU, and equalizer. I had Boston Pro's back then.
In my VW, I have MB Quart separates with a Soundstream Reference amp of yore with an Alpine HU and CD changer. And I found that I preferred the Bostons better. Of course the car changed, so the sound changed as well.
I'm fairly happy with the Audi's stock system, not because it kicks ***, but because the car is so well sound-proofed, you can listen to music rather than the exhaust and road noise like in the VW. There could be better seperation and as we all know, more midbass and bass. But i decided I was satisfied with the stock system as there were too many variables.
Now my home system is an altogether different story.
