Default So, it's been two weeks since i've installed MB Quart PSC 213's in the front speakers.

Just a few quick things first:

I paid 500 bucks for the pair of speakers. Dropped it off at 8am, got it by 1:00pm. Sales tax was 42.50 bucks, so total was: 542.50. I got it installed by Ultrasounds in Lynbrook, NY.

So. How are the speakers? They're mind-numbing. The highs are insanely crisp, and the lows are thumping. Off of stock power rating, these speakers are defintely out-performing my previous Bose's. I'm going to throw in an amp, and ditch the stock head unit (sad to see it go ) w/ the Pioneer DEH-730. Going to replace the rear deck's with MB Quarts also, and one 10" Alumapro enclosed sub.

Phase one is complete, and damn, for 550 bucks, it was freaking well worth it. The difference is very noticeable. Amazing quality, these speakers rock.

Now i only wish the stock system could push them louder because they are being *so* underpowered right now.

AMPS, WHERE YOU ATTTTTTTT

Default I've personally found that MB Quarts are a bit to "tinny"....

Their sound quality is superb but the highs are artificially high, if that makes any sense. Try to get an equalizer to balance out the highs and mids to the lows.

Yeah, i'm waiting till i get the pioneer H.U., but right now, the highs seem perfect. Hit hard.

Default If ur asking me, well, i've never heard focals, but from what i've heard from other people...

they're awesome speakers also. I felt like going w/ MB Quart only because i heard them in my friends car and i was *blown away*. There might be better speakers, but you know what? IT reaches a certain level where the distinction becomes so difficult to obtain.

I'm ChIlLiN wId MaH QuArTz, Yo!

Default Hmmm...I can tell the difference with MB and Focal

gots to say that I like the Focals better. MB aren't bad though. The Focals just sound richer to me.

Default I've heard from others that they like the Focals, and also a brand called Cadence...

Trying to say which speaker is better is even harder than asking which chip is better. It all comes out to personal preference.

I spent a lot of money in my Acura during the college days (somewhere around $3K) on the sound system. It was nothing fancy, but just speakers, amplifier, HU, and equalizer. I had Boston Pro's back then.

In my VW, I have MB Quart separates with a Soundstream Reference amp of yore with an Alpine HU and CD changer. And I found that I preferred the Bostons better. Of course the car changed, so the sound changed as well.

I'm fairly happy with the Audi's stock system, not because it kicks ***, but because the car is so well sound-proofed, you can listen to music rather than the exhaust and road noise like in the VW. There could be better seperation and as we all know, more midbass and bass. But i decided I was satisfied with the stock system as there were too many variables.

Now my home system is an altogether different story.

Default I'm an avid fan of Quarts...

whether competition or non-competition components, they make quality products. I had their seperates 218.03 and 215.03 in one of my car with 3 PPI amps and it was the raddest sound I ever heard.
Are you doing rear speakers too?

Default You got a hookup on Quarts?

Thinking long term here. I am thinking of eventually upgrading my speakers.
