My S4, an Altima 2.5 S? and a Mitsubishi Galant
Clear 3 lane highway. I'm crusing in the middle lane @70mph. Coming off the onramp behind me are a brand new Altima 2.5 S? and a Mitsubishi Galant (?). They're driving "kinda fast" and pass me in the left lane. The Galant is in front. He gets in the middle lane in front of me and the Altima almost lines up next to him in the left lane. They're "off and running..." I'm watching to verify that they're really racing and not just "going fast." After a long look, I decide to join the fun (open road...). They're pretty far ahead now when I floor it. (God love the tip) I'm at ~7k RPM's before I can blink. At first I'm a bit disturbed because I'm not "reeling them in" like I thought I would. They appear to maintain distance. Hmmm... bad TBB? I look down and I'm breaking 100mph when I start to notice the gap closing but I have a lot of ground to make up. By the time I'm doing between 130-135, I'm pulling up next to the Altima and he shuts it down. The Galant is still in front of us. It appears he maintained his starting lead. It was a weird feeling at first because I swear I wasn't gaining ground. I'm sure their "sling shot" advantage is hard to overcome. (they were already racing when I joined)
Time for a chip! I bet the new V6 Altima is stupid fast. (straight line roll on... of course)
I just checked the Nissan site. I swear the markings on the Altima were 2.5 SE. Hmm.. there is no "2.5 SE", only a 2.5 SL and a 3.5 SE... hmm?
I'm getting the chip now... my S4 just had its 1 year bday. (I promised I'd hold out for a year until the performance got "old".)
I did the dealer training stuff for Nissan ;-)
