S4 / RS4 (B5 Platform) Discussion Discussion forum for the B5 Audi S4 & RS4 produced from 1998-2002

If I never track my car, live in hot weather, and decide to chip my S4; do I need RS4 ICs? Thanks.

Default Jyoteen is right, however you want to run your car hard on the street or the drag strip

and have to use 91 craptain then I think the answer is yes. The S4 stock ones no doubt leak, plastic end tanks.

The S4 in chipped configuration heat soaks so bad, that I think it's a worth while investment.

If you live some place that has good gasoline 94+ and is cold most of the time, then probably not.

IC's will give you consistent power vs power when the IC's are frosty then retarded timing and **** performance when things get hot and sticky.

Default I'd say the answer is still no. You don't need them.

Sure, it may help with some of the power loss, but heck, I live in what I'd call hot weather, and tracked plenty of times in 100 degree plus weather.

I don't think I've ever thought that I needed them. Want them, sure, but not needed them.

Again, what do I know.
