Default Car can idle for a couple minutes after you remove the key and lock it.

For cooling down the turbos.

In practice, it's really unnecessary. Just drive easily for the last 2 minutes before you shut off your car, which will let the turbos cool on their own.

Problem solved.

Default From the A4 Forum newbie FAQ...

2. What's a turbo timer? Do I need one? Where do I get one? Where's the cheapest place to get one? Is it easy to install? Does it work with the factory alarm?

A turbo timer will enable you to NOT have to wait in the car as your turbo cools down.
You don't need one, but more of a convenience thing.

The cheapest place online for a new one to get it is at www.aieonline.com or cheaper used at thepartstrader.com. Run a search for greddy and turbo timer or just turbo timer.

Default It allows the oil to cool down preventing coking of the oil in the

turbos. Oh yeah and it voids your warranty!

Which is COMPLETELY unnecessary with synthetic oil.

Default Synthetic oil doesn't coke.

Cooling, sure, but that's not the reason for a turbo timer.

Really, they're unnecessary. Just drive in a fairly mellow fashion the last 2 minutes of your drive. That's it... it's magic!
