Is the turbo lady sneaking up on me (more)....

My car has about 35K on it. So far the engine has been reliable. I have noticed that during acceleration between 3k to 4k I hear this somewhat like a dentist's drill sound (although not real loud).... After 4k I don't hear it...
I am afraid...
Also, if my turbos are going... is this enough to get a dealer to replace them on warrenty??? Or are they likely to tell me that "It's normal"... Car is a early 2001.

she doesn't really sneak up...

she pretty much clubs you over the head...anyone whose heard a turbo that's been visited by her says "OMFG!"...it's not a subtle sound.

sounds more like a loose heat shield....have the dealer inspect

Heat shield... mine does it betw 2500 and 3K in 2nd and 3rd gears. Works itself loose occasionally.
