What's the correct tire size for a 8,5x18' in a 2001 S4 ?

Will the 225/40/18 be thin for a 8,5X18'as the wheel ins't 7.5 as the original thickness/measures? thanks..

225/40/18 you can go 235 but . . .

you may have some rubbing issues up front on hard and fast turns . . .

I just put on 235/40/18

They're Goodyear Eagle F1's and they just barely clear the upper rear support arm (forgive me, I don't know the technical term for it)

I have 245/35/18 Toyo T1-S on my 18X8.5" BBS CH wheels

No rubbing...and I am lowered.

Caveat emptor...the combination of wheels size/wheel offset/tire size/alignment/suspension height/driving habits determine whether or not you will rub.
