Default Codes 17536 & 17538 - HELP NEEDED

All,

Would like to get your advice. I've had the MIL light on for a while and finally got someone with a VAG (Cheers Bryan) to see what the problem was. The codes were 17536 & 17538..System too lean on banks 1 & 2. After reading through some posts it seems that this is the MAF, or potentially the MAF. I had Bryan reset the MIL but it came back on 2 days later.

I was looking through the Audi manual for the MAF but could find no mention of it. I'm assuming that is an air filter (sorry all, not very technical when it comes to cars) but I'm not 100% certain.

Where is the MAF located and how easy it to change it. How much does a new MAF cost ??

I have noticed that the car is a little sluggish in 1 & 2 and it is not quite as peppy as it used to be...but it is still not that bad.

Any help advice ??

Cheers.

It is between the Accordian tube coming off the Y-pipe and the Air box....

Default Here you go

MAF is on the right of the airfilter. It is between the airfilter hosuing and the large plastic pipe going to it. The Bosch one costs $175, and it is EXTREMELY easy to change. All you need is a flathead screwdriver. Once you get a new MAF, you will know where it goes.

Tomasz, I got mine at ECS Tuning

Default that could be one of a few things: MAF, tear/leak, check valve, etc.

here's a pic of the check valve....make sure there isnt anything snapped in there. I think it's on the drivers side under the plasic covers near intake mani

and look for a tear in the TBB. Replace with AMS kevlar wrapped TBB and ottenger clamps (sweet clamps)

Default Just went thru this problem with my car - solution was new ...

...MAF, N75 and torn TBB, (Smokin_S4 helped trouble shoot) I believe the MAF and TBB solved the problem as the car has never run better. I replaced N75 because all of the search's I did pointed to it but I don't think it was bad. The real problem was the TBB (Look at the tear that was hidden under the clamp!) The new MAF did solve the CEL light coming on so I think the old one has some issues.
