My dad just got a used 2000 s4 about 2 months ago and besides being in the shop to fix a bunch of stuff for the first 2 weeks its now running well. my issue is this: when you make any left turns, no matter how fast, even 5mph the left rear tire squeals like crazy. I dont think the right rear does it but it may just be that i cant hear it from the drivers seat. after a few weeks i noticed the rear left tire was almost completely bald, and then about 2 weeks ago the back left tire went flat and my dad took it to the clowns at mavis discount tires. (I told him not to go because its a total rip off, but nooOOOOOO ignore me. they only tried to charge me 150 dollars more than a local place for a set of tires on my a4 a month before... thats a completely separate rant) They told him the rim was cracked and replaced it with the spare rim from the trunk. Then for some unknown reason my dad agreed with them that they should replace 3 of the 4 tires that were on the car, and before you yell at me, it wasnt my idea, I told him to replace them all. after they balanced all the tires they discovered that the spare was a bent rim so the took the liberty of WRITING "RIM BENT" ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE !@%@# WHEEL IN BIG BLACK PERMANENT M@#%$THERF!@#$% MARKER!!! (never go to mavis. they are 2 steps below chimpanzees on the evolutionary ladder). now the back left is starting to show lots of wear again after only 2 weeks. Could anyone venture a guess why its doing this?? my guess was that the differential was somehow stuck so it only turned one way causing it to drag the tire when it turned left, but my dad thinks its just underinflated. (it wasnt that under inflated, it leaked to maybe 20 psi but we regularly refilled it when it was low)

 

definetely have an alignment done, and have a reputable shop check it out

 

No other thought on the tire. FWIW rubbing alcohol will probably take off the black marker.
