Default STOCK!!!! It's completely fine for the track...

Learn the car in that environment first. Since it'll be your 1st time on the track the suspension won't matter in the least. I still drive mine on the track w/the stock suspension and took FTD at an autoX as well. It's a very good set-up. ESPECIALLY for novice-beginner-intermediate drivers. I can't believe you'd want to fuq with it for basically no reason...

Just learn to friggin' drive first. Then learn that car, then maybe think about mods. Just because your family has lots to spend doesn't mean you always have to spend it. uh-oh, I feel a rant coming on. I better stop now. :-\

Default Dude, this isn't for me. You guys think you know everything....

My dad is a pretty good driver. He feels he needs suspension, and I can feel it as well. It isn't *my* car, I just drive it a lot. He also is interested in a short shifter.

Default OK, fair enough...

1st you're claiming it's your father's decision. But you still have to justify it with your opinion? Your opinion can be chosen to be taken pretty lightly since you have no track experience or knowledge base to evaluate a suspension based on it's track worthiness. So since we've ascertained you're not exactly a subject matter expert, why isn't he doing the research himself? He would know what he's looking for in a suspension since he's an accomplished driver, at least more so than his kid who has never been to the track, right? I could be wrong however. I apologize in advanced if I am. I just don't understand. I mean you're asking a bunch of S4 drivers about suspension set-up for the 996TT. Hell, you're not even asking in the motorsports forum where a lot of track junkies hang out. If AW is your tool you're not even using it effectively. uhm, yeah...

Anyway, try the PSS9s. I know a guy that has them in his TT and while he doesn't think it's a full on track set-up they are a fair compromise for the track and street. If your daddy wants something less of a compromise then try researching on Rennlist in the motorsports forum or on RennTech.

Default I already am asking in rennlist. That is why I asked who else here posts there....

I thought just maybe that someone on here has a 996TT, which at least one does and one did. I wasn't using this as my main place for research. My dad asked me because he knows I love modding and that I do lots of work on my car. This would be the first car he ever mods.

It's nice that your dad entertains you like this; I can tell he's a patient guy.

Default What?

Since when do you need to have track experience to feel body roll and realize that a stiffer suspension may help? And anyone who gets in a 996TT knowns right off the bat that a short shifter would make a HUGE difference. The throws feel longer than stock S4 throws.

Default A bit too $$ for the suspension. As for the short shifter....

I am looking at the B & M (40%) and Evo Sport (30%).

Default All this post-whoring here but still no post in the motorsports forum?

Where you *might* get a more informed answer.

True, you don't need any track experience to have an opinion about roll, dive and squat. But here you're asking about suspension for track use. Well it gets a bit more complex then. What trade offs is your dad willing to make? What is your father's goal for this car? JYO suggested a pretty sick set-up but I guess you want something less dedicated?
