Power loss problem
I have a bizarre problem with my S4. I was accelerating quite hard and had a sudden loss of power and a pretty intense hesitation. I also experienced a strange "siren-like" sound thereafter. The sound increased and decreased with throttle application, not unlike a whistling boost leak. I now have a *total* loss of power and no abnormal noises. The car can barely keep up with traffic even while revving it to 5k or so.
I replaced the DV's with 710N's, no dice. Reset the computer, no change. Checked all of my hoses, including the TBB all seem fine except for the F-hose, it has a *slight* tear, I don't think it is the cause of my problem. I checked both wastegate rods, they seem OK.
I did happen to notice some sort of very quick, a half second at the most, high-pitched grinding sound, not unlike a transmission when this happpened... may have been my imagination, or it could have been a compressor wheel dispensing of itself?
I'm going to VAG it tonight, hopefully that will give me further information to go on.
Please let me know if you can think of anything!
