Very fun, but not super fast

Played with an RX8 lastnight.
Heading down the 101 in light traffic, taking my time, I see an unusual headlight/fog combo closing in.
Well, it's an RX8 with an A4 in tow.
We hit traffic, I let them around, gives me time to check the thing out. Not that bad looking really, although at night the back reminds me of a S2k or a Z4, not a bad thing, just not as original as the front.
Anyways, by now, the traffic has cleared up, and they start doing some pulls, A4 in front, RX8 on his a$$, and me leisurely taking up the rear, but then again, no real effort on my part to keep right with them. This continued for several miles - a couple of 70-120 pulls. By the time I had a clear lane to overtake, I'd long passed my exit, but I did anyway, waved them off, and backtracked to where it was going.
Added some interest to my evening, but wasn't impressed, so I looked up the RX8s numbers:
C/D-estimated performance (247-hp 6-speed):
Zero to 60 mph 6.3 sec
Zero to 100 mph 16.5 sec
Standing 1/4-mile 14.9 sec @ 95 mph
Top speed (drag limited) 150 mph
Oh, well, maybe they'll figure out how to turbo that thing and have it still pass smog.

Did you see how they got that 0-60 time though?
I believe it was an 8000+ rpm clutch dump. Such is the driving style of a hyper rotary. Also Mazda revised their power figures to an even lower 238HP. If it was an automatic it is an even more pathetic 197HP.
