Default S4 Mods

I'm planning to speak with Todd this week at AWE. His shop is <1 mile from my house. I've made the decision to buy out my '01.5 S4 lease in a couple of months and am now considering the following mods: chip/exhaust/suspension to start, and probably toss on some 18"s with some new wheels - either RS4 or BBSs. I love the car in stock form, but the car can clearly be so special with the right mods. Plus, I just plain don't like the look of the B6 - even though I know it's a great car - I can't warm to it.

Looking at GIAC, HR Street Coilovers, and the Borla system. I've read the posts on the GIAC chip - I'm looking for smoothness, reliability, and additional power (without blowing up my turbos, if possible). What about unpleasant resonance from the rolled edge Borla cat-back system? Are folks who've put these mods on their cars happy with their choices? Also, if I put 18s on the car, ie. RS4 or BBS wheels, anything I need to do for proper fit? Appreciate the feedback.

Have a relaxing and rainy in NE) Labor Day!

Default It's quieter than the Borla - almost anything (except VM) is quieter than Borla

Look into a used exhaust - save a bundle, easy installation. Tools are simple, and you only need ramps for the rear.

Default Last thing I want is ....

something that sounds like a ricer or Jetta with one of those HUGE piggie pipes - just want some extra performance, and a good quality, throaty sound to the engine.

Thanks for the advice. I'll test both when I see Todd.

Default Twin2 is supposed to be nice sound. I tried 6 exhausts and finally ended up

with the Miltek 3inch. I'm finally happy.

If you want throaty & performance w/o the droan, then consider (in addition to Twin2):
MTM
Miltek (3inch or dual)
Supersprint

and I got it for $180 shipped, so no complaints there either.
