Default does the ECU use the O2 sensors?
are they used to keep the car running properly? or can you run the car with them removed?

Default Used to adjust Fuel/Air Ratio for fuel efficiency & emissions.
There are O2 Sims that you can replace the sensors w/ to fool the ECU. APR's 2+ software also has the O2 Sim built-in (well just eliminates the CELL).
