Rattling sunroof continues...
Seeing as my warranty runs out in May, I decided to try to get the rattling sunroof (rattles when up only, not open) issue resolved. So this morning I brought it to Paul Miller (North Jersey), and after about an hour they said they fixed it by tightening the screws on the rails. Of course this did NOT actually resolve the rattle, as some other people have posted that the rails really need to be replaced and I'm pretty sure that's what's wrong. This is the ONLY time I have ever brought my car in for service, as hiding my constant retching from seeing the lemming customers get ripped off as well as the day wasted from work (I'm self employed) is rather irritating. the most annoying thing is the pavlovian response of the service rep telling me that some rattle is "normal." Odd that it didn't rattle the first 3 years... but it makes me worry they will refuse to find a problem if I bring it back.
So my question is what's the best way to proceed. My options:
1) Bring the car back and insist they fix it. This would a) waste another day and b) likely not get fixed that day as they will probably insist I go through AOA.
2) Call AOA first, then go to the dealer. Probably won't work because AOA will tell me to go see the dealer again first.
3) Fix it myself. I wanted to do this from the beginning as I fix everything else myself, but I'm told I'd have to remove the headliner and this is a major job. Anyone done this themselves?
The rattle is incredibly annoying, I have to do something as I love the car aside from these annoyances.
Suggestions appreciated.
