Any audio guys here? Need some suggestions. Looking for a new amplifier.
My 9 year old Phoenix Gold is finally dying so I'm in the market for a new amp. My system consists of a Pioneer head unit and changer, MB Quart Q-series components (front), MB quart coaxials (rear), and an Image Dynamics IDQ-12 sub. I would like the power to be at least 100W to the front and 500W for the sub. Right now the rears are powered by the head but I'm thinking about using a 4 channel for the front and rear and a separate mono amp for the sub. I've looked at JL Audio, Rockford, MB Quart, and Zapco. The JLs are nice and this is the direction I'm leaning (1 450/4 for the F/R and either a 500/1 or 1000/1 for the sub). The Rockfords are little too big and bulky and pretty expensive compared to the JL. The new MB Quart amps are nice but they use 12dB x-overs instead of 24dB like some of the other brands. I also heard that the Q-series amps have not been shipping yet. The Zapco's are just too expensive. Anyone have any other suggestions?

have you looked at JL 500/5? 100x2(F)+25x2(R)+250(Sub)

You feed your 10W7 with only 250W?
How does it sound? I was looking for at least 400-500W for the sub which is why I didn't look at that. But if it can drive your 10W7 I would probably have to take a look. Isn't the recommended power for a 10W7 500W?

The JLs aren't too bad. Their size make them much easier to locate in the trunk..
I'm using Xtant X-series Amps in the S4 and the PPI Art Series in the C. Have you looked at PPI amps? Not the new Starship Enterprise looking ones, but the other ones? There's also Arc Audio (might be pricey), Alpine, Audison. Can't think of anything else I like that isn't priced real high.
