Default Will this Manual Boost Controller (MBC) work for an S4 (N75 parallel) application?

Hallman RX Pro MBC. I have an oppertunity to pick one of these up at a pretty good price. Will it work for my application? I have the GIAC X-chip in my 2000 S4 (A-Box), and would just like to clip boost spikes. I know there are cheaper options out there (Piggie MBC, JoeP, etc), but I can get this one at a price that isn't too much higher than those. I like the fact that Hallman says it is possible to adjust the boost in 1/2lb incriments (I think I read a few posts that a 1/2 turn on the other style MBCs could sometimes result in going from 17-21 lbs of boost). The ceramic ball seems like a good advantage as well.

Any advice, ideas, or opinions on these for me? Like I said, the price factor is not really an issue, I'm just wondering about compatibilty, performance, and ease of installation. Thanks in advance.

Default An MBC is an MBC is an MBC .... All of the ones you mentioned work on the same principle. --->

You can pick up different springs from your local hardware store. Softer spring = more revs per x psi increase. The ones pictured should be fine.

Default I asked because I noticed that VAST Performance sells a "Parallel" and "Standalone" version...(m)

...If they are all the same, what is the difference in those 2 versions (other than $5)? Would the Hallman RX Pro MBC be able to work in both types of applications, or only one? Thanks again for the help.

Default bleed hole vs no bleed hole.

theoretically, you could run in parallel either way, though.

Yep, though the added bleed off of the hole would raise boost slightly in a parallel inst.

In that case, does that mean the Hallman MBC would not function properly in a standalone application

You can always drill a hole (edited) when you want to go MBC only.

You want a bleed hold when you go MBC only. Am I misunderstanding your post?

I recommend running the Vast MBC only with TCD.
