any idea why a giac x car would be reading +4.5 on the timing in lemmi

my neighbor wanted me to clear the CEL on his stg2 2000 6speed and while it was hooked up i noticed a few weird things. one that really caught my attention was that his timing was up to 4.5 over the normal value of 0 (or so i remember) when read with lemmiwinks. he said no one has ever worked on it other than the dealer for maintinence stuff. why would it be there, and could it be causeing anything bad to happen?

what are some settings that i can tweak for him to improve on the X with stage 2, anything i can do for him if he wants to run 104 octane at the dyno this weekend.

off the top of my head his car has:
giac x
bipipe
710Ns
some sort of open element intake
awe dps w/ testpipes (secondary 02s bagged and stuffed over the heat sheild)
awe twin 2

his car feels really slow, seems to be running rich, could be my imagination but it just plain stinks (literally)
