Help with pricing on replacement door skin
Another accident was a fender bender while backing out of a parking space. This fender bender wrinkled the lower portion of the rear driver's side door. The body shop is quoting $900 to repair the door. My question is whether or not it would be cheaper to buy a new door skin and have it painted. Does anyone know what this door skin would cost, or have any experience with repairing cosmetic damage to a door?
My suggestion of charging my sister, and never letting her drive the car again did not seem to go over well (you can bet that she will never drive my S4).
Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the moral support.

There are no "skins" that I know of available, but an entire door will cost about $475. The total cost is going to depend on whether the trim needs to be replaced or not and the shops labor.
If the dent is minor, as in the main structure of the door isn't damaged and the panel isn't stretched so much that it "flaps", you can probably just have it repaired from the outside without replacing the entire door.
It is possible that your replacement door won't fit as nicely, or the window will stop working a month later.
I've had quotes from $350 up to $1200. $350-about 650 repaired the door and 650-1200 replaced it.
I have done plenty of bodywork myself and know that the most expensive may not be your best bet. I have seen the work of some of the less expensive guys here (NE OH) and I am going to gamble.
I'd risk having to pay an extra $400 to possibly save the $800. Plus the small guy will appreciate the business.

Labor rated at 3.0 hours total. 2 hours for paint, 1 hour to remove/reinstall.

I dunno, either my shop told me the wrong info and printed out erroneous info, or you're mistaken.
