Metal grinding sound from LR wheel turns out to be this surprise...

After checking under the car and looking for suspension damage, I thought "Maybe a wheel stud came loose and is rolling around inside the wheel cap." Well, I was close except is was a bit bigger than a wheel stud.
What kind of effect does this have on my car - wheel bearing, alignment, etc.?
Any suggestion on how to get it back on? Looks like it needs a huge allen key.

that is whack. You should get a new wheel bearing kit and replace...

Have you had your car serviced recently? CV boot repair? Wheel Bearing repair?
