Seen a few threads recently on exhaust leaks ... what are the signs/symptoms?

I don't think I have one, just curious how one would deduce an exhaust leak.

black carbon buildup, weird congested puffing sound (small)...

everything ryan said and...

put your car on the lift, have someone get inside and press on the gas. put your hand near any of the joints where clamps or welds are, and feel for air leaking out.

...and you might have water dripping out of the leak.

or, plug the end of the exhaust with a rag and see where the forced air goes.

You can hear a clicking sound

And water will leak out of the joints where the clamps are. My Borla leaks a bit, need to fix it soon.
