Default Would a bad swaybar link make the steering feel "squirrely"?

I'm trying to indentify what may potentially be failing control arms, but when I wiggle the wheels with the car on a jack, I don't see any movement. I'm at 91,000 Miles.

The car feels less sure footed. I'm wondering if it could be a swaybar link?

I know control arms are a maintenance item, so I'm not opposed to ponying up for them. I just don't want to replace something that isn't broken (right now).

Thoughts?

Default Well if you jacked it up and tugged left and right and jiggled all around and felt and/or heard

nothing .... it could be a tire or shock issue.

Or you could have broke something that ties the whole suspension together like a sway bar bolt or something....

When control arms and tie rod ends go you can really tell by a good tug and jiggle at least in the few cases I have dealt with.

Hm. I'll have to jack it up and try again. Thanks for the info.

Default You might want to see how much play there is in your steering system. My car...

was going all over the road and I found my tie rod ends were gone. I replaced them and it made no difference in how the car drove. I found there was too much play in the steering wheel and this turned out to be due to loose steering column u-joint bearings and a steering rack that needed adjustment.

Hope this helps.
