Turbo Lady - Dentist Drill - Time to get K04s!

Turbo Lady - Dentist Drill - Time to get K04s!
One of my turbos met the beginning end of its life this morning on a leisurely (Manhattan rush hour) drive to work. After about 5 minutes I heard a nasty whine that I thought was my Bose stero picking up interference, but no, with that off I could clearly hear the dentist drill of death.
So where's the best place to get a Stage 3 upgrade in the NYC/NJ/PA area? What else should I get when the engine is out? Timing belt was done recently (less than 10K miles) and everything runs fine otherwise.
I'm thinking:
- K04s
- oil lines
- RS4 motor mounts
- RS4 clutch
- boost gauge
What else should I get? Obviously I'll want to do fueling and other stuff - can I wait til later? Does it make sense to do it all at once?

If you can afford it, I would suggest do it at once,,, make the most of the time your car is down
you will also save a few pennies buying everything in bulk vs. piecing it together over time....

Any chance you can record the sound and
post it? The few remaining in the archives were hard to hear.
Sorry to hear about it. It seems we all drive in fear of that inevitable day! At least going Stage 3 makes the $$$ shot to the groin slightly less painful...

I get a louder whine when under partial acceleration - this was not present until this morning.
Under full throttle it sounds very scary (dentist drill) and I tried to baby it all the way after hearing it once or twice. Perhaps it will last like this for awhile and perhaps not. Either way, I've wanted to do the Stage 3 upgrade since about 2 weeks after chipping it so now I've got my excuse.

Well you have options and possibly time.
Many have driven their cars with that sound for months, so turbo failure may not be around the corner. Though you never know!
As to shops... take your car to Mark at AutoSpeed Performance, though you may as well go with the GT25rs... they are not significantly more than Stage III with downpipes. Though they are more if all you going to do is KO3 hybrids.

By all means go Stage 3. Just trying to allay your fears about impending doom...
people on this board are often overly sensitive to noises on these cars (rightly so, we're enthusiasts!). A whine under light throttle and a dentist drill under WOT are "normal". You'll know damn well when your turbos are blown. I highly doubt it's possible to predict exactly when based on sound. Experience suggests that you have quite some time left.
