Default Well here's competition that the B5 S4 never had to deal with....

sounds like bmw is putting a car together that will "deal" with the B7S4, and let the NEXT M3 compete with the RS4...

sounds like some kind of variation on a sequential setup...anyway this comes as little suprise since there were reports of BW working with BMW on some new turbo system a year or two back...

probably gonna be a cool car (if not a little too pricy though)

**incidentily this kinda not really but sorta does support my assertion of branding that the B6/B7 S4's should really be called A4 4.2 S-line...the S/RS branding sticks out like a sore thumb compared to BMW's M and Mercedes AMG**

twin turbo 3 series

Default i'd think BMW would steer clear of FI, considering a TT 6cyl 3-series would pwn an M3 with a few

minor mods.

Default i'd hit it...and mod the hell out of it. I'd be a great platform imo b/c..

You have the support of a mass-marketed engine/car (if its similar to the N/A 3.0L) - and also have mod potential with OEM (M3) parts. Kinda like the RS4 - S4 relationship, but the turboed-3L probably has more power potential than the M3.

If you build it, I will buy

Default hehe, you mean how an C5 A6 2.7T was faster then the S6 stock and would blow it away with a chip?

heck a stage 2+ C5 2.7TA6 probably will take the C6 S6 to school.

maybe BMW trying to get some FI Fan boys business...and yes i think the 330hp 335i woudl be faster then the next M3 with just a few mods unless is already maxxed from factory (or you can do like B6 1.8T's and limit the power gained from a chip by using small injectors no capable of keeping up with increased air flow). And yes I'll take an FI I6 over 340 NA V8 HP...too.

in any case it would throw an interesting new variable into the equation...

Default The last paragraph in your post is spot on.

**incidentily this kinda not really but sorta does support my assertion of branding that the B6/B7 S4's should really be called A4 4.2 S-line...the S/RS branding sticks out like a sore thumb compared to BMW's M and Mercedes AMG**

I've been disappointed & confused about Audi's use of the "S" since the B5 S4 came out.

There was the S6 Avant, which was nothing more than the A6 4.2 in an Avant form.

The B6 S4 did make a little sense being called an S until the A4 started looking exactly like it or even better IMO with the ultra sport package. The B6/B7 S4 doesn't have any special since the 4.2 is essentially the same engine used across several platforms.

I think Audi has blurred the S-line and S cars too much and the RS is what the S should be.

Merc & BMW have got it together in how to define their performance line. Audi is just all over the place.

Default Yeah, but they're building a car not expecting people to tune it. The bottom line is that this

car will have 330hp, while the new M3 will probably have 430hp. It's the 100 extra horsepower on paper that will set them apart, not the fact that some gearhead is going to slap a bigger turbo in there and have more powah than an M3.

I would potentially buy one... Best of both worlds.
