Summer project: Swap Tip for Manual?!
Am i totally retarded to think this is possible? I have about a month of free time this summer and I'm really interested in serious modification of my 2000 s4... first of all, i want to get rid of the tiptronic and put in a manual. I'm sure i'm undershooting this, so what's involved other than the tranny itself, footpegs, onboard software?!, et cetera? How much should i be looking at spending? And any other information is appreciated... thanks a lot guys!

People have done it. Overall, I think it's a waste of time. You could take the month you have.....
and search for a nice 6spd.
A car that started as a tip and is now a 6spd will not be worth too much in the future.
Sell the tip, buy a 6spd.
You'll spend waaaaay more $$$ doing the swap than you will if you sell and buy a different S4.

Now that I know your feelings I have a better idea why you never emailed me back...
when I emailed you asking how you felt about doing a conversion. However, I think a conversion is a good idea, especially for a car like mine which may now be hard to find in a 6-speed, ie, brand new perfect paint, nearly perfect interior and only 33K miles on it. If I sell my car, because it's 4 years old and out of warranty I won't get sh*t for it compared to the money I've put into it, so for me a 6 speed conversion is a very good idea and that's why I'll probably do it, and fortunately, Stasis will gladly do it for me.

i would tend to agree in your situation.......
you'll be ahead of a standard 6speed if you swap the Stasis unit in as well......what can you sell a tip tranny for? Maybe you can use that to offset the cost of the Stasis unit beings you won't have 6speed core to send in.

My feelings exactly...
I'm gonna sell my tip tranny to someone who wants to go Level 10, then put the Stasis racing gear box in. I'll also go stage III at that time, so it should be an awesome transition for me whenever it actually happens.
