AoA confuses entire A6 lineup (close cousin to topic below)
Car magazine (British) has done a review of the S6 Avant now. Their results with the TIP:
0-60mph (not 62mph) 6.8 secs. (6.7 for sedan)
The 6-speed is supposed to be 0.5 secs faster, so lets say 6.2 for sedan.
I guess Audi didn't shorten the rear end enough to get acceleration on the S6. And all this after initial word was the car was 0.4 secs faster than the 4.2, now it falls to 0.2?
Now, lets run down the 0-60 times for US A6's
car (price) TIP (secs)/stick (secs)
S6 (~$65K): 6.7/6.2
A6 4.2 ($50K): 6.8/N.A.
A6 2.7T ($40K): 6.6/6.0
A6 2.7T (Euro 235HP tune) ~7.6/~7.0
A6 2.8 ($35K): ~8.5/~8.0
Now, doesn't one of these data points seem out of place?
I have no idea why Audi Germany allowed AoA to bump the 2.7T up to 250HP and make it the fastest A6 BAR NONE.
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad, as an owner of a US 2.7T. But it doesn't make sense. Perhaps AoA will be vindicated when the new 530i comes out and the US 2.7T matches up, but the Euro one doesn't.
Finally, the S6 runs 340HP/310 ft-lbs through the same TIP tranny us 2.7T folks have, so looks like you can pretty much chip your 2.7T TIP up to 1.0 bar if you want. I'm conflicted now about whether to chip or not.
MTM is to Dinan and what
Audi Sport is to ///M Power.
Audi Sport designs cars that have added suspension, tyre, trim, etc.
MTM designs cars that have all of what the Audi Sport designs have, but also have added power. Hence, MTM produces the 300+ hp TT's, the 400+ hp A6's, etc.

It's great, there's an article in the front that says the the big auto company acquisitions are over now. And that, for example, there's no way FIAT could be bought since it is family owned.
Which is funny since this issue was apparently written before both the BMW sell-off (although they knew it was coming) and the GM-FIAT deal.
