Car & Driver picks A6 2.7T over 528i, GS300...
Latest C&D has the A6 2.7T a one point winner over the 528i. Did notice there are a lot of 2.7T owners on this forum. Said nice things about both Audi and BMW. Audi finally put more power in the A6 and they complained about the tires. BMW has the 3.0 liter engine coming in 2001, which will up the ante yet again. But both cars are a cut above the rest of the comaprison sedans!

They complain because Audis usually come standard with regular all season tire, which is fine, but when Audi offers a sport pkg it's on the same sz rim, a couple of mm wider tires all season at that. When a true sport pkg should really be z-rated summer. As big as the A6 is, like most of its competition should come with/ make avail 17's just like the S4

My A6 2.7T PSK car came with Zrated summer tires
Dunlop SP9000's. The tirerack rates them as "maximum performance" (as does Dunlop), even better than SP8000s, FWIW.
I agree about the lack of a 17" wheel option, Audi should really offer it.

Those Goodyear Eagle's I had on my A4 were even worse than the RE040 Potenza's on my S4
If they're putting the same thing on the A6 now, I can see why people complain. The Eagle's would squeal turning into my driveway -- it was a pain in the *** to make any turn they made so much noise -- and only got worse as they got toward their limit. They weren't very good in the wet either. At least the RE040's are quiet (until pushed to their limit, which isn't real far).
