Car and Driver 2.7T
As most peope know the Audi won the test in C-n-D. I wonder hpw much more they would have like it had it been a PSK sport package equiped car. The 2.7 is sounding better and better to me. Also, it would have blown ALL of them away in acceleration had it been a six speed. They didn't point that out and the fact that not all of them are available with a manual. BAD10

My guess is that *was* the PSK package. It didn't say but if you look at the pictures, it had the sport wheels and I believe in the stats, it had the sport tires. It's possible it was the old sport package, but if these are manufacturer supplied cars, they'd probably give their best.

Although their descriptions do kind of lead to it. This article had to be written at least two months ago. There was no PSK in the US at the time.
I don't think Audi would slip them a ringer. Would C&D even let them?
I'm hoping the car wasn't PSK, and them Audi will have something new to offer up to beat the 530i, which C&D basically said they would automatically take over the 2.7T. Of course, then they will have the hamfisted Bosch DSC, and that might mark it down.
Anyone notice the presence of the button on the dash where the change holder should be? It's where the FWD car has the traction control button. Does that make it a DSC button? Or perhaps its the rear sunshade?
I don't think the dark interior they had looks nearly as good as the lighter interiors.

I saw a newer A6 2.7 at a BMWCCA autocross and if they car had the sports package it is way behind the BMW in terms of handling. I have also followed a 528i Sport at Sears Point and its handling from my view was superb. The A6 seemed to have terminal understeer and tons of body roll while the 528i was near flat in the corners at Sears Point.
Both nice cars and A6 finally got the power it should have had a long time ago.

For racing, you would of course rather have the PSK. Also, you'd rather have about 800 fewer pounds.
But no 5-series car (M5 included) is going to be "near flat" at a race track without modifications. That kind of performance simply isn't a priority for street cars.
I would expect you could get both cars to handle well with a little work. The 5-series obviously has a head start since it weighs less.
