CD Changer Err2, But the discs aren't scratched.
I reciently installed the 6disc changer in my a62.7t that I ordered from clair. I followed the instructions from the FAQ and it was very straightforward. The install went fine and when I put in the disc cartrage I could hear it cycling through discs. I know that the angle adjustment screws are at the H setting which is correct for the a6. All the controls work fine. I even put in a brand new disc so err2 "disc scratched" doesn't sound right. I put in a lens cleaner disc and it had no effect so I did it over and over in frustration. Anybody have any clues? I was thinking about taking it to the local dealer, not the one where i bought it, and asking them to fix the cd changer "which hasn't worked since I bought it," trying to make is sound like it came with the car. The only thing is that it doesn't have the audi logo on it and I don't know if all the factory ones do have the logo. Thanks in advance for your help.

Can't you play any CDs at all or just some? I don't know about yours, but I have a factory-installed 12CD changer in my (not Audi) car and there are some CDs that will almost always give errors. These same CDs play just fine in my other players.

I am not able to play any cds with the cd changer, the in dash cd works fine. Actually I have only tried ten in the changer, but none of those work some are new and some are not so new. It only takes a second before it decides that it is a bad disc and then tries the next disc and cycles through again and again.

Only because I have done this, do you have the correct side of the CD facing up?
I also have a 6 disc changer in a passat, and if I am running around on short trips with the CD's playing I will get an error from all the starts and stops , but if I choose another disc it will play fine.

Just a wild guess. Since you have the new audio package w/in dash CD, maybe the interface between the controller and changer is different from the cassette only model. Could Clair have given you the changer for the older model.

Sounds like it's time to call Clair and describe the problem to them. They'll probably decide that your unit sounds defective and will send you a new one. You'll have the headache of removing the current one and installing the replacement--but remember how much money you saved by buying from Clair and the hassle will seem well worth it.

CD Changer UPDATE.
It turns out that the service departments at a couple of different dealers, in SF and in Marin, say that you need to reprogram the head unit with the VAG 1551/1552 tool when you install a CD Changer with the symphony stereo. They both also say that it will cost ~$50. This is news to me the install directions from the FAQ for the A62.7t don't mention this. I have to wait three weeks for a ten minute service. Anyone else have a similar experience or know a workaround? Thanks for the replies.
