Default Loss of power on 2.7t

I have a 2.7t with about 3500mi on it. This weekend I was driving in the mountains 5000 - 8000 ft. and pushing the car pretty hard. I noticed a lot of surging whenever I went full throttle but the car ran fine otherwise. Now the car seems to have much less power than it used to.

I tried unplugging the ECU to force a reset, I even plugged in a friends APR ECU but the car just doesn't have the power it used to. Also, the turbo chargers seem to make more noise than they used to. Until the surging in the mountains the only time I could hear the turbochargers was when I drove it very easy when cold. As soon as the engine warmed up a bit the noise went away, now I can hear the turbos most of the time. The noise is not loud but noticable.

I checked the hoses as best as I could including the Y in the front center of the engine but everything seems fine. Of course I will take the car to the dealer, but to be honest, they are not the sharpest so I am looking for knowlegable suggestions as to what the problen might be.

Default torn throttle body boot?

That's the "Y" you refer to. It often tears right under the clamp, so you won't see it.

That's all I can think of, and you've already checked it.

No "check engine" codes?

Default Yes, sounds like "false air" or loss of pressure downstream from the turbos

"false air" is when you have extra air entering the system behind the air flow meter. The car would run lean and have low power. Idle poorly too in most cases. That or loss of pressure in the turbo system - intercooler plumbing, etc. Obviously, this would be smoother at idle than false air, but very pronounced under heavy boost.

same thing happened to me and it turned out to be a bad maf sensor,the dealer replaced it.

Had a friend who owned a 92 200 turbo and experienced similar loss of power/boost. Had the mechs looking for weeks. Eventually found that the brake light switch kept sticking. Every time the brake lights stayed on the power was down,this must be feed to the ECU.. true story! ..ok that's it, you can stop laughing now
