Two Week old Windshield Cracked!
I noticed on my drive to work today that the windshield was cracked and it looks like it is running. It starts from the bottom dead center and has traveled up for around two inches and then it takes a turn for the drivers side and rund six inches. Pretty sure that it wasn't there for delivery, or even a couple of days ago when I washed it. It is all in the darker shaded bottom part of the window. I know that I didn't hit anything nor have I stressed the car too much, so this must be defective from the factory. I guess that I will take it in when I get my stereo programed for the cd changer(see below) in three weeks. Maybe they can fix the headliner buzz too and I will have a perfect car.
CD Changer Update
It turns out that the service departments at a couple of different dealers, in SF and in Marin, say that you need to reprogram the head unit with the VAG 1551/1552 tool when you install a CD Changer with the symphony stereo. They both also say that it will cost ~$50. This is news to me the install directions from the FAQ for the A62.7t don't mention this. I have to wait three weeks for a ten minute service. Anyone else have a similar experience or know a workaround?

Awhile back on the TT forum, more than a few people complained of factory defective windshields on their cars. It got to be one of the "known possible problems", almost as bad as the gear grinding on the FWD TT's.

I know how you feel. You just got your car and you are still waiting for it to be perfect. Well it will happen soon. Lucky for me it only took 3 weeks. Everything just gets better.

no reprogram needed
I wrote the FAQ (from the A4 FAQ) and no reprogram is needed. I sure didn't need it. Many others have indicated they didn't need it either.
As to the stress cracks, Audi has an article on their tech site that seems to acknowledge that the problems you are having with your windshield are not uncommon.
