BMW 328i faster than A6 2.7T?
A friend of mine said that his bran new BMW 328i is much faster than my A6 2.7T. Is he full of it. He said that the two cars are not even comparable. The only car the A6 will compare to is the 528i. Is this true. I know nothing about BMW. All comments are welcome (even the ones that bash my friend) :->.

His 328i produces 195 hp and 206 lb-ft of torque at 3500 rpms. Your A6 is 250 hp and 258 lb-ft torque at only 1850 rpm. My guess is his 0-60 time is 6.8-6.9 with the stick and 7.5 with the automatic. If he has a stick it could be close, with the automatic it's no contest. Get a chip and you'll really blow by his Bimmer.

You've got a slight edge.
Numbers I see say 0.4 sec or so, assuming he has a stick.
His is a LOT lighter than yours, so he gets a lot more bang for his HP. However, the A6 is family car, the 3-series is a compact car. If he had a 528i, you'd leave him far behind. Well over a second.

You'll smoke him - especially if you are at any kind of altitude
On average, a normally aspirated engines loses 25/30% power at 5000ft. A manual tranny takes far more skill to match published times than an auto.
Tell him to compare a 528 or 530. Compare fit and finish. Rear space. Price. Versatility in all kinds of weather. This is why people buy an Audi. Not to feed the ego, but accomplish a task other than extending a particular part of the anatomy.
