Default Dealer offers 5% over invoice if I take it with 16" wheels.....

I'd like to thank everyone for your help the other
day with my questions on a white 4.2! But I just got a call from the dealer and they offered me a car since someone changed their choice in colors
...it's a 4.2, casablanca white, melange interior,
CD changer, Xenon lights, Heated front/rear seats,
Nav System and rear side airbags at a little less than 5% over dealer invoice...because I wanted the 17" wheels and sport package. Should I accept the deal.....or wait for them to swap for a car with 17" wheels and sports package at a higher price? H E L P ?

Default I'd wait

If we were talking about the difference between taking a Nav or non-Nav car (or other non-critical option) I'd say do it. But the Sport Package/Wheel issue is big. Not only does it impact the performance of the vehicle but dramatically affects the look as well. I didn't read your previous post so I don't what your overall thoughts are, but this is not something I would compromise on. If you take a non-Sport Pckge car now and change your mind later on, you're looking at spending upwards of $2500 to correct your decision. Good luck.

I believe that the full options list for the 2000 4.2 is Cold/Warm/Sport/Nav/Xenon/SideRearAirbags/Parking/ESP/6CD/Phone/Wheels.
You are offered Cold/Nav/Xenon/Side-RearAirbgs/6CD.
The 17" wheels are $750 MSRP and the Sport package is $1750 MSRP (including 17" wheels, seats and suspension). If you only want the wheels, buy now and add them later. If you want the Sport package (and anything else mssing. like ESP) wait.

If you save a few bucks and you really want that sport package, you will regret the decision to take an automobile that will never be what you really wanted. That is a very expensive mistake.

Default Mike, do yourself a big favor and wait for the sport pkg.

Previously you said you did want the sport pkg. This changes the car dramatically. The wheels as Stu B. has posted are a $2500 dealer add on. The car looks better, handles better, rides excellent (more controlled) and inspires an awful lot of confidence. If you wait, you will not regret it as long as you have already sat in the sport seats and like them.

Default Re: Thanks all for the help........

You are all right...the dealer is just trying to push a car that they thought they had sold....and were hoping to circumvent the search for a car and swap it with another dealer! If there are any dealers in the NY Metro area that have a 4.2 in Casablanca white with a sport package and the 17" rubber, cold/warm weather package, Xenon lights, CD changer....I'm ready to buy...or we can swap an A6 with Anchor Audi....so I can service close to home! Thanks again for the help all!

Default Dealer did nothing wrong....

by giving you the option and possibly creating a win-win situation. They should be able to tell you almost immediately if there's one around or enroute to a dealer within a certain radius, and if that dealer is willing to swap. I'd be mentally preparing myself to order an '01. In the meantime I'll check out Classic in Eastchester for you.
