Default Update on Dings - and dealer repairs

I picked up two dings on my A6 2.7T in fairly short order - both on the driver door in similar locations. I had the dealer work on the first one - shown in the left hand side of this picture in the circle - before taking it out it looked like the ding in the right hand circle. My 5 year old son turned out to be the cause - he opened the rear door of my wife's Camry too hard on two occasions. He told my wife right away when it happened but she only looked at my rear door - the Camry door swung forward and hit my front door. When I found the second ding (1 week after getting the first fixed), my son told me he thought he might have done it. I'm proud he let me know - particularly as he had seen how angry I was when I first found it. We've taken steps to make sure it doesn't happen again (to me or anyone else). As punishment I had him help me wash the car, which he actually likes.

Anyway - here are two pics - before and after of the fix. The ding in the left circle has been "fixed" by the Dent Wizard through my local Audi dealer. Cost $100. The next pic will show the right ding fixed.

Default After Picture - ding mostly removed

The paint actually looks a lot better than this - the closeup pic sees every spec of dust. The 2nd dent came out pretty well - cost for this one was $65.

At the same time the dealer finally fixed my headliner buzz by adding the felt pads. Previously, a repair based on tightening a bolt in the fuse cavity had only reduced the noise amplitude. The problem appears fixed now.

I'm very happy with this sort of repair. With any luck, I won't need to have it done again for a long while.

Default Wish you were my dad.

Maybe you'd force me to drive my car really fast for several hours straight when I was a bad boy (sorry - slow work day).

Default I need your patience

I actually got angry just hearing your message. Guess I have to remember it's "only" a car...

Default Re: I need your patience

I was pretty upset at the thought that it was a careless adult or worse yet - a deliberate act. And I was pretty mad when I discovered the 2nd ding after lunch in a diner. I'm not happy that my son hit my car - but I was awfully proud that he was brave enough to tell me - particularly after seeing how angry I was. He's only five and means well and my wife now knows to remind him before opening the car door to do it slowly now. He wanted to help fix the ding or to help pay for it - he's caught the message that he needs to be more careful. And it is only a car.

I'm far more concerned that he might do this to someone else when out with my wife - as I said - she's helping him remember to be careful.
