Engine in a 96? S6 Avant

I saw a (what I thought was an A6) S6 Avant in a parking lot. What years was this car in the US. I'm guessing 96? Anyway, what engine is (most likely) in this car?

The car was in the US from 92-95.5. 92-94's are called the S4 after that it's the S6. Avant was only offered the last couple of year, before that it's sedan only. The engine for all years is the same, 2.2l 5cylinder 20v Turbo. 227hp, 258 ft/lb torque. Very fast, very comortable, about 45-50K new (in 93 anyway). Top of the line for Audi at the time. Very rare, about 4000 total or so for US market.

I'm an owner of a 95.5 S6 Avant. The Avant was only sold in the US for years '95 and well '95 and a half. The '95.5 is really a '96 model. Body and equipmnet updates happened in '96 for the A6-series cars.
There where a total of 433 Avant sold in the US for the complete S4/S6 series.
