front clip - now I'm scared

After seeing an A6 roll to the dealership (when I was there) in with the front bumper slightly dehinged, I thought maybe there is something to this problem with the front end pulling off.

This weekend at Kirkwood (ski resort) I saw a brownish A6 with the front bumper pretty much destrotyed. It appears it had pulled off while backing also.

I think I'm going to look into those ideas I had for modifying the lower bumper fascia to not catch on stuff.

Are the front clips (bumper skins I presume) prone to pulling off easily?

It was the hot topic on here (a4.org) before the 2.7T came around.

Supposedly, you pull up over a parking stop, and the bumper fascia hooks. When you back up, it pulls it right off.

I've looked at the bumper fascia below and I can believe it.

Audi supposedly even changed the attachment to be breakaway so you wouldn't buckle your fenders when you did this and so save at least some money on repairs.

Hasn't happened to me, and I've had my car for 5 months and aren't that careful about this.

Concerned that they pull off easily and....

with the sport pack. you're 20mm lower(4.2). I bottomed and scraped on a deep driveway that I thought was no prob. Unfortunately, you must be extra careful or you'll wind up with expensive damage.
