Great Deal on Tires/Wheels
<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/Spider.gif"></center><p>After reading about the improved handling and longing for better traction (especially after chipping), I bit the bullet and got a set of 17" wheels and 235/45/17 ZR SP9000's. The wheels are Mille Miglia Spiders. I went to Town Fair Tire - which is one of the vendors for the upcoming Audi Northeast Spring Bash - and got a great deal. Wheels, Tires, balance and 4 wheel alignment for $1400. Tire Rack's price (not including balance, alignment or shipping) was $1472.
Does anyone know a good source for the audi inserts? Once I get the tires installed (next Monday) I'll let you know how they are.
I'd recommend Town Fair Tire (in Nashua, NH, anyway) highly. They spent at least an hour trying to be sure they wheels would fit *before* they ordered them. Chris at Town Fair had done an A6 before, and knew about the tight brake clearances. He has also worked with someone who is machining some A8 wheels to fit! (Yikes!)<p>DLow

Alignment not necessary....but if it is free...go for it
Just changing tires to a plus one set-up does not necessitate a 4 wheel alignment...suspension changes do.

A few questions for DLow...
Hey would you tell me how the wheels feel on the road and stuff. I am looking to purchase the Miglias but in 18". Also did you have to use spacers for the rims because of the huge calipers that are on the 2.7T ?

They are mounting the wheels on Monday - I'll let you know if they need spacers, etc. They don't think they'll need them - but aren't 100% sure...

Yep The A8's do not fit. I know. My A8 polished rims are at RONAL for the appropriate fitment. I do Admit that Town Fair Tire is a good shop. The Nashua folks have been super. They will spent much time assuring that the wheels do fit. The penalty for not doing this is expensive. I know. That was my A7 2.7T Cheris was talking about. Just to let you know YIKES is right and this 2.7T my be one of a kind.. well at least in Nashua.

Followup - I got they wheels installed on Saturday, and they do make a difference. The car holds the corners much better, and ride quality doesn't seem to be greatly diminished. It's still not as "tight" as I'd like - but the sport springs should fix that....
The Mille Maglia Spiders *do* fit without spacers, and look real nice - I'll post a pic when I can borrow a digital camera...
