4.2 Two Hundred Mile Review
Power: Soooo smooth, this car is faster than anything I have ever owned.
Ride: As if on rails, no body roll, firm but not harsh.
Fit & Finish: Have yet to find a flaw.
Whoever described this car as an autobahn strato-cruiser hit the nail on the head, 80mph @ 2,200 rpm.
Minor Issues:
70 mph speed limit in WA state
1 cup holder
Some wind noise around door/window frames (fixable?)
Only complaint:
Power steering provides too much assist. I would prefer to have steering input
require just a touch more effort.
Explaination:
Drove my A4 and A6 back to back at highway speeds, the A4 steering is stiffer, less lively. The A4 is more stable, less reactive in the situation described below.
In WA state our DOT has yet to see the wisdom of banning snow tire studs. As a result drivers who used studded tires have wornr ruts into the pavement. Couple wide P6000's, an overly active steering system and pavement ruts and you have a hair rasing experience.
Overall, WOW
Chris
Because of business, I'm a regular visitor to your state and I agree about the worn ruts on your roads. It takes some concentration, but I usually drive just to the left or right of those ruts, where it tends to be a lot smoother and the steering is not effected.

The A8 5 spoke wheels have to be machined and spacers mfgd. The 2.7T brakes are too big for the wheel. I am attempting to see what the costs are.
