Could be serious?

Help!! My car makes a clunking sound and a jerk when shifting from 2ed to 1st in tiptronic. Is this normal. I have an A6 2000 2.7T and am very worried. The sound only occurs when the car is in tiptronic and not in drive and only happens from 2 to 1. If anyone has any information about this please post back.

Nah, manual dnshifts into 1st are usually jerky. If you let the tip dnshift, you shouldn't feel it.

I get the same clunking sensation "periodically" in both Tip mode and from D or 4th in auto mode. I also get this same feeling sometimes when accelerating from around 1,000 RPM, eg, darting out from slow traffic. The latter combined with delayed trottle response really sucks. Since I haven't heard many similiar complaints on this forum, I'm going test drive another 2.7T in the next few days. Just can't believe this is normal and not detrimental to the longevity of the trans.

Don't think it is a problem.

I have had the same experience and it occurs if I have not used the tip frequently or if I have changed from super aggressive driving to rush hour sitting (translated - adaptive transmission control?).

I eliminated it completely by changing my stopping style and also by using the tip more frequently.
