Tip chip for the 4.2 #3 + Allroad is at the NY Auto Show
I received an email from Tony at PES a few minutes ago. He said that he spoke to Garret of GIAC and that they are working on a more aggresive program for the tip chip. He mentioned that my car is one of the first in the country with both chips (apparently second and the first on the East Coast) and it was better to start conservatively. He said he would again be in touch in a few days.
I went to the Auto Show with some press passes. Everything was upside down but did see two Allroads in person. I was told that they would be available in August. They were setting up and I couldn't engage anyone in a real conversation. Since I have passes valid through tomorrow I am going to try to squeeze going back before 5PM when they expire. Will post anything else I find out. If you have any questions you want me to try and get answered post them here by Thursday Noon EST.

When you say you have both chips, what exactly do you mean? Do you have separate chips for the Tiptronic and the engine? If so, which chip do you have for the engine and how do you like it?

I have a GIAC chip for the engine ECU and another GIAC chip for the tiptronic. Scroll down my posting of 4/18 where there are extensive comments on both with pictures for you to see.

I'm surprised to hear the Allroad would be available so early (in August). Do you know if that means delivery or build date?

I'm really ticked off. First, Audi's site at the show was not nearly as well done as BMW's and MB's. Second while the many others, including the aforementioned had reps around (the show was open for a limited audience until 5 PM) Audi had no one there at 4:15 PM. There was one Audi employee that was not a product specialist and he told me that the allroad would be available by mid-summer. I asked about the 2.7T Avant and he could not anwser that except to say that the product specialists would not be back until the next day. Sorry, but I couldn't get there any sooner.

Pablo1 -- thanks for trying. AoA needs to be reminded that complacency doesn't sell cars -- someone needs to be there with all the information at his fingertips. The product specialists should have noticed that the other stands were still manned when they decided to head out for an early dinner. At the least, the non-specialist you talked with should have been alert enough to take your name and offer to get someone to contact you. Sounds like sloppiness all round -- how badly done was the stand compared with MB and BMW?

exTriumph, it was smaller, the cars were very close. 2 years ago I remember going away thinking that Audi had done a great job and presented the best sedan product line for quality driving machines. Last year I felt Audi did OK but the new MB S Slass was the most novel and interesting. This year I didn't get that impression at all. I felt that VW got more play with an older product line. Audi didn't show one A6 (2.7T or 4.2) with sport package. I find the 4.2 (with the beautiful wheels) in this configuration particularly eye catching yet nothing. I van't understand it. Both BMW and MB really outshined the 4 circles at this show.
