Protection for the Car- Recommendations
So I'm driving my car with 600 miles on the freeway, and hear that sound of something hitting the car. My first inclination is the windshield, look around... nada. So OK, it wasn't so bad. Then at work, showing the new "mistress" off to a co-worker, and BOOM- a chip on the hood. Wasn't there last night. So I gently rub my fingers by it, and 2 layers of paint are gone.
So for my question:
I've looked into Stonegard, but they don't have any application centers in Northern California. Anyone know of some type of protection/film that could be applied to the front/exposed zones of the car?

Ouch! The same thing happened to me last week, leaving a nice little chip on the hood of my 6 week old 2.8. To make matters worse, in taking my seatbelt off one day, the belt whipped back, with the metal part accidentally hitting the inside of my drivers' side window, making a painful (to look at) scratch in the glass.

ERT...I haven't used their paint protection kits (which is what you are apparently looking for) but I have used the headlight kit and I like it a lot. They appear to have a paint kit available for the A6 put I doubt if they have one for the 4.2.

I just had one of the X-pel full coverage
paint protection kit installed and I installed the headlight kit that JP4 mentioned.
The window tinting shop I was at Wednesday also installed the kits (using the 3M Scotchcal film)
so hopefully you can find someone. I believe the X-pel site has a dealer listing.
They look nice and I believe, will protect against small projectiles.
I just found a 4 inch scratch on the lower left side just behind the rear door where, interestly enough, a piece of film was installed either at the factory or dealer. Not sure what hit it but it happened yesterday. I am up to two dings now.
Audi has paint touch up kits cheap (I am looking at one).

How do you think it will look after 1-2 years. Is the clear coat underneath damaged in any way do you think? Can the X-Pel product be successfully applied to the painted surfaces? Isn't X-Pel product made by 3M? Thanks in advance for any help.

I've seen a car with Stonegard applied and the lines were too visible. Felt like I was going to damage the look of my new ebony pearl paint to prevent damaging the look... Is the Expel or 3M les visible? Anyone seen them side by side?
