Default I can't get my 4.2's steering wheel position memory to work past a few minutes.

With the switch for convenient exiting on, that is to retract the steering wheel, this feature works fine. If I return to the car in a short while, the steering wheel will return to the memorized postion upon turning the key in the ignition, but if I wait more than half an hour to an hour, I turn the key and nothing happens. I then have to resort to depressing the seat memory to return the sterring wheel to my desired driving position. I have read the owners manual explanation a few times but I get the same result. I figure that I'll have to make a trip to the dealer but before I do that has anyone else out there encountered this nuisance.

The same thing happend to me. I gave up trying to figure it out after doing what the manual said about a dozen times. I had the service man at the dealer set it. What I don't understand that if I'm smart enough to figure out how to make enough money to afford a car like this how come I can't set a switch.

I have the same problem with my 4.2 since it was delivered last October, but it doesn't have to do with the amount of time btwn shut down. It is also the only problem I've had with the car (other than the emerg brake wood insert breaking) Most of the time it comes back, but sometimes it does not and I readjust it manually. If you go to the dealer, would like to know the outcome. I've chosen to "live with it" for awhile rather than to have the dash components dismantled. I figure I can always have it looked at later on and it's not much of an inconvenience. By the way, I've enjoyed your posts regarding chip/tip upgrades.

Default Been thinking about this........Try this

Not sure how you are setting the positions, but try this first.

Adjust seat and mirrors with the car turned on. Put the on/off button in the raised position. Hold 1 through 3 along with memory button until you hear the solenoid click in the dash/door. HERE COMES THE IMPORTANT PART. Before turning off the car, put it in drive and move it just a little. Now things should be permanently stored.

Let me know how it works.
