Given up waiting ... on the list for an allroad (long)
Wasn't considering the allroad until AoA verified the 6 speed. Hmm, now that sounds less like a AUV and very much like a slightly jacked up, but only when you want it, wide flares ( think 4.2 .. ) A6 with the 2.7T and finally a manual box. Being Audi I'm assuming they haven't totally lost the ball on onroad handling so I decided to get on the list.
I'm thinking Black, to hide the two tone, maybe with the Black / Gray interior, hopefully with out the wood and of course with the 6 speed ! Who cares if it's a bit rubbery, at least you have full control and minimal power loss !
Have yet to drive a 2.7T with the manual, dealer has one on the way but took a tip out yesterday and it was a nice drive.
Now for the questions :
Has anyone seen a good photo of the Black / Gray interior ?
Has any one seen a photo without the shiny Alloy bits on the bottom of the doors ?
Ditto for a non wood interior ?
Are the "Sports seats" Audi mentions the Recaros in the allroad launch site ?
Are these things in dealers in Eurpoe yet ? ( I'm over in a month or so and might try to hunt one down ! )
So please people stop bagging the allroad, at least until we all get a chance to drive them. I'm being hopeful Audi hasn't lost the plot with their concession to mainstream US tatses ! At least they've made AoA bring the thing in !

The allroad site

I am becoming more excited about this proposition because I really love the 2.7T 6M. However, according to current information, the AllRoad is only going to be available in two unique color schemes. Gray and green. That is two TOTAL choices, not two exterior choices with various interior choices. The way I understand it, you can choose the Green scheme Allroad or the Gray scheme AllRoad. Period. Wood interior is standard and unavoidable. I hope this info changes.
I'm also concerned that it will be a little underpowered. I mean, the 2.7t engine is great in my S4, but the allroad is a bigger, heaver car, and is considerably down in horsepower compared to the X5 and the ML430, unless you chip it.
I'm still on the fence about an order.
Because of its adjustable height suspension system it is unlikely that any of the conventional handling upgrades (factory or aftermarket) will be compatible with the Allroad. In my opinion, handling is notably the A6's weakest area compared to the competition, and would probably be the only aspect that I would upgrade. I'm going to wait about another 6 months or so for an A6 Avant 2.7t announcement and if not will probably be compelled to shop the competition. The Allroad is just way too far in the wrong direction for me.
I have no problem writing in to say that I was wrong. My dealer called me today to give me a new brochure that just came in for the Allroad. It lists 5 total exterior colors (gray, silver, black, green, beige). All are available with Platinum/Black interiors. Beige and black are also available with Ecru/Brown interiors. Only the Green is available with the green interior. One other interesting note is that with the green exterior you get dark green bumpers and fender flares. All other colors have Dark gray.
